Dear Families,

Thank you for your interest in Andrew Cooke Magnet School for the Fine Arts and Science. We are a public school serving all of the families that live within School District #60 boundaries. Our attendance is based on an application and testing. We also look for children who are interested in pursuing the fine arts and/or science. All of our students take drama and dance during the course of the year as well as music and visual arts. Orchestra lessons for our students begin in first grade and band lessons begin in fourth grade. Almost 100% of our children play an instrument. We have a five-day rotation for specials including music, art, drama, PE and a day for arts enrichment (Arts Block).  Additionally we have a full time STEM teacher with a STEM lab. Four years ago we renovated our greenhouse and it is now an integral part of our Arts Block curriculum.

Applications become available for the school year open in February of each year. Admission testing is held in late April.  To apply, use the link on the WPS60.org page.  Once you complete the application, Cooke Admissions will reach out to you regarding testing. If any other language besides English is spoken at home, please contact the Welcome Center at 224-303-3600 to set up an appointment for the required language test.  This must be done prior to testing at Cooke Magnet School.
